2, 4 or 6 tracks: what you get
| Split | Files | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| 2 stems | Vocals, Instrumental | Karaoke, acapellas, covers, quick remixes |
| 4 stems | Vocals, Drums, Bass, Other | Remixing, drum or bass practice, mashups |
| 6 stems | Vocals, Drums, Bass, Guitar, Piano, Other | Learning a guitar or piano part, finer remixes |
The 2-stem instrumental is not the same as summing the 4 stems without vocals, but it is close. If you plan to rebuild the mix, 4 stems gives you more control at no extra cost in browser mode. The 6-stem split runs on our server only.
Hear a real split
This is the engine's output on Sunlight, a song we generated ourselves, so the example is free of copyright questions. Each player is one split track.
Play all the tracks together in your editor, lined up at zero, and they rebuild the original. That is the quickest check that nothing was lost in the split.
A producer workflow with split vocals
- Split the song into 2 or 4 stems and download every file. They are the same length and start at the same point, so they line up in any DAW.
- Find the BPM and key of the vocal with the browser BPM and key finder, so you can set your project tempo.
- Shift the vocal up or down a few semitones with the pitch changer if it has to fit another track's key.
- Build your new beat under the vocal, or keep the original drums and replace the rest.
- Bounce the result. Only release it if you own the vocal or have a licence to remix it.

TuneSplit gives you up to six tracks as plain MP3 files with no account, and a mode that keeps your song on your own device.
Frequently asked questions
What is a vocal splitter?
A vocal splitter is a tool that separates the vocals of a song from the instrumental, giving you each as its own audio file. TuneSplit does it with the Demucs htdemucs AI model and can also split the music further into drums, bass, guitar, piano and other.
Is the vocal splitter free?
Yes. It is unlimited and free in your browser with no upload, for 2 or 4 stems and songs up to 8 minutes. On our faster server you get 1 free split a day up to 10 minutes; after that each started 5 minutes costs 30 credits.
Do I need an account?
No. You can split and download without signing up. An account is only needed if you buy credits and want them on more than one device.
Will the split tracks line up in my DAW?
Yes. Every track has the same length and starting point as the original song, so dropping them at zero on separate tracks lines them up exactly.
Can I split a song into more than vocals and music?
Yes. Choose 4 stems for vocals, drums, bass and other, or 6 stems to also get guitar and piano. The 6-stem split runs on our server; 2 and 4 stems also run in your browser.
What file formats can I upload?
MP3, WAV, M4A, FLAC, OGG and video files such as MP4 and MOV. The split tracks download as MP3.
Can I split a song without uploading it, for free and without limits?
Yes. Choose In your browser above the drop zone. The same Demucs htdemucs model runs on your own device, so the file is never uploaded and there is no daily limit, for 2 or 4 stems and songs up to 8 minutes. The first run downloads the 172 MB model once. It is slower than the server, usually a few minutes for a 3-minute song, and works best in a recent Chrome, Edge or Safari on a laptop or desktop.
Can I release a remix made from split vocals?
Only if you own the vocal or have the rights holder's permission. Splitting a song for practice or private study is generally fine; publishing someone else's vocal needs a licence.
