A Free Udio Alternative You Can Download From

Many people search for a Udio alternative for one practical reason: they want a song file they can keep. This page lays out what Udio's own pricing and help pages say today, what changed after its label partnerships, and how TuneSplit compares on free use, downloads, credits and tools. We say what we verified, and we mark everything else as not verified.

TuneSplit is a free Udio alternative where every song has an MP3 download. No sign-up is needed, and each browser gets 30 free credits every UTC day, which give 3 generations, which is 6 songs of up to 2 minutes. Each prompt returns 2 versions from 2 models. Free songs are for personal, non-commercial use.

Why people look for a Udio alternative

Udio built its name on sound quality and on editing tools such as extend, remix and inpainting. Nothing here says it is a weak product. The searches for an alternative usually come from changes in how the service works, so it helps to separate what Udio itself documents from what third-party blogs repeat.

What Udio's own Help Center says, as of Oct 2026 (checked 18 Oct 2026): on October 29, 2025, Udio entered a partnership with Universal Music Group, and downloading of audio, video and stems was disabled. The page was last updated February 17, 2026 and still lists downloads as disabled. A separate Help Center article dated November 19, 2025 describes a similar arrangement with Warner Music Group, says the same v1, v1.5 and v1.5 Allegro models and core tools such as extend, remix and Styles remain available during the transition, and says songs can still be shared through udio.com links that anyone can open. We found no date for downloads returning, and we are not guessing one.

Credits changed too. After the UMG deal, Udio gave every subscriber a one-time grant of 1,000 non-expiring credits and raised the monthly limits to 2,400 credits on Standard and 6,000 on Pro. Those are real improvements, but they sit next to the download change, which is what most people notice first.

Other reasons we see people give are smaller and more personal: wanting a different mix of tools, wanting a plain daily free allowance, or wanting a service that returns more than one take for each prompt. The right choice depends on what you need to do with the song after it is made.

Udio today: plans and credits we verified

We read udio.com/pricing and help.udio.com on 18 Oct 2026. These are the facts as the pages stated them. Plans and limits change, so check the pages before you pay.

  • Free: $0. 10 credits a day and 100 credits a month with no rollover, up to 4 songs generating at once, and a limit of 3 full-length (about 2:10) generations per day.
  • Standard: $10 a month, or $8 a month billed as $96 a year. 2,400 credits a month, no daily cap on 2-minute songs, 6 songs at once, plus Voice Control, editing of music and lyrics, uploading audio, and custom cover art.
  • Pro: $30 a month, or $24 a month billed as $288 a year. 6,000 credits a month, 10 songs at once, all features, and the ability to adjust song access permissions, which is not listed on the lower plans.
  • Extra credits: 100 credits for $3 and 1,000 credits for $25. Purchased credits do not expire, according to the Help Center.
  • Credit cost: each click of Create, Extend, Remix, Inpaint or Edit makes two songs. A pair of 32-second songs costs 2 credits, and a pair of 130-second songs costs 4 credits.

Do the arithmetic and Udio is good value on paper. Standard's 2,400 credits cover up to 600 pairs of 130-second songs, or 1,200 songs, for $10 a month. The catch is the part the credits do not buy: as of Oct 2026 the Help Center says downloads of audio, video and stems are disabled, so what you make lives on Udio and can be shared by link. If you make songs to play inside Udio, that may not matter. If you want an MP3 for a video, a presentation or a gift, it does.

What TuneSplit does differently

TuneSplit is a smaller site with a different mix of tools. These are the differences that are actually part of the product today.

  • Two versions per generation. Every prompt returns two songs from two different models, MiniMax Music v2 and ACE-Step, so you hear two arrangements of the same idea and keep the one you prefer.
  • Free numbers you can plan around. No sign-up is needed. Each browser gets 30 free credits every UTC day. A generation costs 10 credits, so that is 3 generations or 6 songs a day. Free songs run up to 2 minutes.
  • Downloads. Every song has a player, an MP3 download and a public share page.
  • Stems on the same site. The stem splitter handles any file you upload. For your own generated songs there is a free 30-second stem preview, and full-length WAV stems cost 20 credits.
  • BPM and key. The BPM and key finder runs in your browser, so the file is never uploaded. It gives BPM with half-time and double-time alternatives, the key, a Camelot code and a tap-tempo button.
  • Lyric video maker. Pick a song and paste the lyrics, and TuneSplit times the lines across the track and exports an MP4 in 9:16 or 16:9, rendered in your browser. Free exports carry a small Made with TuneSplit watermark.

Honest limits: free use is personal and non-commercial, free songs stop at 2 minutes, and TuneSplit has no equivalent of Udio's inpainting or its large public library. We have not run a blind listening test against Udio, and we do not claim our songs sound better.

Udio vs Suno vs TuneSplit and others, as of Oct 2026

The table keeps to facts we verified ourselves. A cell that says not verified means we did not confirm the detail on the product's own page during this check. The Suno prices come from its public page and the monthly figures were inferred from the annual discount shown, so recheck them. The other tools are included because search results for this keyword list them; we did not test them.

Two models, one prompt: hear the result

The fastest way to judge any generator is to listen. This is one prompt run through both of our models: upbeat indie pop, bright female vocal, warm synths, claps, a summer road trip feeling, 112 bpm. The lyrics are the same in both runs.

Sunlight (version A)Prompt: Upbeat indie pop, bright female vocal, warm synths, claps, summer road trip feeling, 112 bpmLyrics: Windows down and the radio low / Chasing the light on the coast road slow … Sunlight, sunlight, carry us homeMiniMax Music v2 · 2:30 long · ready in 94 s · unedited output
Sunlight (version B)Prompt: Upbeat indie pop, bright female vocal, warm synths, claps, summer road trip feeling, 112 bpmLyrics: Same lyrics as version A — a second take with a different arrangementACE-Step · 1:44 long · ready in 27 s · unedited output

Version A is from MiniMax Music v2. It is 2:30 long and was ready in about 94 seconds. Version B is from ACE-Step. It is 1:44 long and was ready in about 27 seconds. Same words, different arrangements and different length. Neither was edited. In our measurements the ACE-Step version usually takes 10 to 30 seconds and the MiniMax version about 60 to 95 seconds, so the first playable version usually arrives within a minute.

Why two models? Each has different strengths, and one prompt rarely lands perfectly. Getting two takes in one generation means fewer re-rolls and less guessing about which settings to change.

Moving from Udio: prompts, lyrics and tags

Your habits carry over, but a few details change. Here is how to adapt without starting from zero.

Rewrite the prompt as style plus mood

Udio's Help Center describes prompts in the form of a topic followed by genre tags separated by commas. On TuneSplit you can keep that, but the form also has separate style, mood and vocal controls, so move genre words into those and keep the text field for the story and the sound. A prompt like walking home in the rain, synthwave becomes a one-line description plus synthwave-style electronic pop, a chill mood and a male or female vocal.

Keep your lyrics, check the section tags

Udio documents section tags in square brackets, such as Verse, Chorus, Bridge, Intro, Outro and Instrumental Break. Paste your lyrics with those headers intact and label each section clearly. Treat tags as suggestions, not commands. Models differ in how strictly they follow them, which is another reason to listen to both versions.

If a lyric was written for a 32-second Udio clip, you will probably want to extend it. Add a second verse or a bridge before generating, since free TuneSplit songs run up to 2 minutes.

Plan for features that do not map one to one

Inpainting, extend and Voices are Udio features, and TuneSplit does not copy them. Instead, regenerate with a small prompt change, compare both versions, and use the stem splitter or pitch and speed changer to adjust what you have. Only upload audio you have the rights to, and remember TuneSplit has no voice cloning or covers in a real singer's voice.

Who should pick what

There is no single right answer, and we would rather you choose well than choose us.

  • If you enjoy Udio's editing tools and the sharing by link is enough for you, Udio's pricing is competitive, and its credit limits were raised in 2025.
  • If you want the largest community and public feed, Suno has the longer head start.
  • If you need a file you can keep and use, such as a birthday song to send, a study track, a video soundtrack for personal use or a lyric video, TuneSplit's MP3 download and lyric video maker fit that.
  • If you want to hear two takes of every prompt without paying twice, TuneSplit is built for that.
  • If you need commercial rights today, read each product's terms carefully. TuneSplit's free songs are personal use only, and the commercial licence belongs to the Pro plan.

Whatever you pick, avoid prompts that imitate a real artist. TuneSplit moderates lyrics, does not clone voices, and has a DMCA contact on its Terms page.

Frequently asked questions

What is a good free Udio alternative?

TuneSplit is a free option that lets you download your songs. No sign-up is needed, and each browser gets 30 free credits every UTC day, which give 3 generations, which is 6 songs up to 2 minutes each. Each prompt returns 2 versions from 2 different models, and every song has an MP3 download. Free use is personal and non-commercial.

Can you download songs from Udio right now?

As of Oct 2026, Udio's Help Center says downloading of audio, video and stems has been disabled since its October 29, 2025 partnership with Universal Music Group. The page was updated February 17, 2026. Songs can still be shared through udio.com links. We found no official date for downloads returning, so check Udio's Help Center for the latest.

How much does Udio cost in 2026?

On its pricing page on 18 Oct 2026, Udio listed Free at $0, Standard at $10 a month ($8 a month billed yearly) and Pro at $30 a month ($24 yearly). Extra credits cost $3 for 100 and $25 for 1,000. Standard includes 2,400 credits a month and Pro includes 6,000. Prices change, so confirm on udio.com/pricing.

Is TuneSplit as good as Udio?

We do not claim it is. Udio has editing tools such as inpainting that TuneSplit does not offer, and TuneSplit has features Udio does not list, such as two versions per prompt, stems on the same site and a lyric video maker. We have not run a blind listening test, so listen to the examples on this page and decide by ear.

Does TuneSplit have a free plan?

Yes. No sign-up is needed. Each browser gets 30 free credits every UTC day, and a generation costs 10 credits, so you get 3 generations or 6 songs a day. Free songs run up to 2 minutes and are for personal, non-commercial use. The lyrics generator has 5 free uses a day, and failed generations are refunded.

Can I use TuneSplit songs commercially?

Not on the free tier, which is personal and non-commercial. A commercial licence is part of the Pro plan, which includes songs up to 3 minutes and full WAV stems. Read the terms on the pricing page before you publish anything for money. The same caution applies to any generator.

How long does it take to make a song on TuneSplit?

The ACE-Step version usually takes 10 to 30 seconds and the MiniMax Music v2 version about 60 to 95 seconds, so the first playable version usually arrives within about a minute. In our own examples, a 2:00 lo-fi instrumental took about 11 seconds and a 2:30 indie pop song took about 94 seconds.

Can I move my Udio lyrics to TuneSplit?

Yes. Paste your lyrics into the song generator and keep your section headers such as Verse and Chorus. Pick a style, mood and vocal type, then compare the two versions that come back. Only use lyrics you wrote or have permission to use, and note that TuneSplit does not clone voices or imitate a real artist.

Can I split stems from a TuneSplit song?

Yes. The free stem splitter takes any file you have rights to, 3 files a day up to 10 minutes each, in 2-stem or 4-stem mode with MP3 downloads. For songs you generated here, a 30-second stem preview is free and full-length WAV stems cost 20 credits. Uploads are deleted within 24 hours and never used for training.

Does TuneSplit have a BPM finder and a lyric video maker?

Both are on the same site. The BPM and key finder runs in your browser without uploading the file and reports BPM, half and double-time options, key and Camelot code. The lyric video maker times your lyrics across the song and exports an MP4 in 9:16 or 16:9. Free exports have a small watermark that Pro removes.

Does TuneSplit clone voices or copy artists?

No. TuneSplit has no voice cloning and no covers in a real singer's voice, and lyrics are moderated. You choose a female, male or instrumental vocal and a style. Avoid prompts that ask for a real artist's sound. A DMCA contact is available on the Terms page if you have a rights concern.

Are these Udio facts current?
