How the numbers were measured

We ran each song's 30-second public preview through the analyzer behind our BPM & key finder (onset-strength autocorrelation for tempo, chroma profile matching for key), compared the tempo with an independent catalogue figure when one existed, and dropped songs where the two disagreed or the analyzer was unsure. Tempos shown are whole BPM.

Frequently asked questions

Where do these BPM and key numbers come from?

Each song was measured by TuneSplit's own analyzer, the same code as the free BPM & key finder, on a 30-second public preview. Where a catalogue BPM figure existed we compared it and only kept songs where the two agree (allowing for half or double time). The audio is deleted after analysis; we store only the numbers.

How accurate are they?

Tempo is usually within a BPM or two for songs with a steady beat. Key is an estimate from a short excerpt, so songs that change key or have a long intro can be off. Live versions, remasters and DJ edits often differ, so drop your own file into the finder for a definitive answer.

What is a Camelot code?

A Camelot code (1A to 12B) labels each musical key on a wheel so DJs can mix harmonically: tracks with the same number, a neighbouring number, or the same number with the other letter (relative major or minor) blend without clashing.
