Can you release AI music on Spotify?

Yes, Spotify accepts AI-assisted music through a distributor, as long as you hold the rights to release it and it does not impersonate a real artist. What decides it is the licence of the tool you made it with.

You can release AI music on Spotify if the generator's licence allows streaming distribution and the song does not copy or impersonate a real artist. On TuneSplit, songs made with purchased credits or a paid plan may be distributed to Spotify, Apple Music and other services, and that licence stays valid after you cancel. A one-time $4.90 pack is enough; no subscription. Free songs are for personal use only.

A free song cannot be upgraded later. If you want to release a track, buy credits first and generate it again. Free songs are up to 2 minutes; paid plans allow longer songs.

Before you upload: a checklist

  1. Licence: the song was made with purchased credits or during a paid plan.
  2. Lyrics: you wrote them, or you have the right to use them. Do not paste someone else's lyrics.
  3. No impersonation: no real artist's name in the title, the artist field or the prompt.
  4. Resemblance: listen for melodies that sound like a song you know. AI output can resemble existing music by chance, and you are responsible for checking.
  5. Distributor rules: read your distributor's current policy on AI-generated content and disclose it when asked.
  6. Content ID: think before opting an AI track into Content ID, since similar AI tracks can trigger false matches against other people.

Frequently asked questions

Can I upload AI-generated music to Spotify?

Yes. Spotify accepts AI-assisted music delivered through a distributor, provided you have the rights to release it and it does not impersonate another artist or spam the catalogue. Your distributor may ask you to disclose AI use.

Can I release songs made on TuneSplit on Spotify?

Yes, if you made them with purchased credits or during a paid plan. Our terms allow streaming distribution for those songs, and the licence stays valid after you cancel. Free songs are for personal use only.

Is there a free AI music generator I can use commercially?

Some free tiers allow it, such as Stable Audio with an account, mostly for instrumentals. On TuneSplit the free tier is personal use; the cheapest commercial route is a one-time $4.90 pack of 200 credits, with no subscription.

Do I own the AI song?

You get the right to use and distribute songs made with paid credits under our terms. Copyright in purely AI-generated audio is unsettled in many countries, so adding your own lyrics, edits or performance strengthens your claim.

Can I make money from AI songs on Spotify?

Yes, streams earn royalties through your distributor like any release. Expect small amounts unless you promote the music; the licence lets you keep the earnings.

Can I make a song in the style of a famous artist and release it?

Do not use a real artist's name or try to copy their voice. Describe the genre, mood and instruments instead. Releases that impersonate artists get removed by streaming services and can lead to legal claims.

Can I upgrade a free song to a commercial licence later?

No. The licence depends on how the song was made. Buy credits or a plan first, then generate the song you plan to release.
